Job Description
We're looking for four new trustees to join SisterWood.
As a small, grassroots organisation, we're looking for people who share our values and want to help shape SisterWood's future as we grow thoughtfully and sustainably.
We're currently recruiting for four voluntary trustee roles:
Treasurer
Fundraiser
Governance & Board Operations
Marketing & Communications
As our Trustee with Specialism in Fundraising, you'll bring guidance, creativity, and encouragement to how we resource our work - helping us grow in a way that feels aligned and values-led.
Working closely with Chair and Treasurer to support SisterWood's financial planning and future sustainability.
If you're values-led, thoughtful and believe in the power of nature, community and creating spaces where young women can feel safe, seen and supported, we'd love to hear from you.
Whether you're an experienced trustee or bringing these skills to a board for the first time, your perspective could make a real difference.
We know that charity boards don't always reflect the communities they serve. We particularly welcome applications from people who are underrepresented in charity governance, including people from the global majority, d/Deaf, disabled and neurodivergent people, LGBTQ+ people, people from working-class or lower socio-economic backgrounds, people with care experience. We are also interested in hearing from people with strong connections to Devon.
Job Requirements
You don't need to have been a trustee before what matters most is your willingness to learn, your reliability, and your alignment with our values. We're keen to bring in trustees with a range of perspectives so the Board reflects different strengths and experiences.
We'd love you to bring one or more of the following:
Experience in fundraising (e.g. trusts & foundations, individual giving, community fundraising, partnerships)
Confidence to lead on, support and advise on funding applications and income generation
An understanding of sustainable and ethical fundraising approaches
A creative and proactive mindset around resourcing grassroots work
An openness to sharing knowledge and building confidence within the team
Alignment with SisterWood's mission and values
Bonus: existing networks or connections that could support fundraising conversations
This role requires a DBS check.
