Job Summary
Job Description
The primary purpose of this role is to coordinate and support the operations and administration of research and knowledge exchange at The Place. This includes coordinating our PhD programme in partnership with UAL, supporting preparations for the Research Excellence Framework (REF), and helping to develop a vibrant research culture through activities such as our newly established research clusters. The role will also occasionally contribute to Knowledge Exchange, coordinating institutional Knowledge Exchange Framework (KEF), Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF) and Higher Education Business and Community Interaction (HE-BCI) activity.
You will coordinate research projects and events, maintain systems and databases to track outputs, impact and funding, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen research and knowledge exchange development. You will also contribute to impact case studies, funding applications, financial monitoring, and the continuous improvement of systems, processes and procedures.
Salary & Contract Terms:
Salary: The full-time equivalent salary for this position is £34,966 per annum, equating to £27,973 per annum for this part-time role.
Contract: Open-ended, Permanent. Part-time (equivalent to 32 hours per week- inclusive of a one-hour paid lunch break)

Job Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Knowledge of the Research Excellence Framework (REF) and familiarity with developments in the research funding policy landscape.
- Strong organisational skills & attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills, able to liaise with a range of stakeholders.
- Strong financial management skills, with experience in processing expenses and budget tracking.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other digital tools for managing tasks and databases.
- Degree level education or equivalent experience in HE (Higher Education), research and/or administration, project management, or related fields.
- Demonstrable experience coordinating research activities in higher education and/or the arts.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating initiative, flexibility and problem-solving skills.
Desirable Criteria:
- Knowledge of Higher Education Innovation Fund (HEIF)
Job Responsibilities
- Maintain systems and processes that underpin research activity, ensuring effective coordination of schedules, correspondence, and key deadlines.
- Coordinate Research & Knowledge Exchange committees, activity across The Place's research clusters, and activity of artist researchers across The Place's programmes.
- Support our growing PhD programme.
- Understand and stay abreast of key policies and frameworks.
- Support the operational preparations for the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
- Develop and assist with impact case studies.
- Coordinate financial administration and support funding applications.
- Support the collection and coordination of data, evidence and impact information required for knowledge exchange funding.
- Coordinate internal research funding schemes, administering staff funding requests and project proposals, monitoring project delivery, and reporting outcomes.
- Coordinate research events and activities- conferences, symposia, and research cluster events.
