As an Assistant Drama Facilitator, you will work alongside our Drama Facilitators to create fun, engaging and supportive drama sessions where children feel confident to explore their creativity.

You will support classes across a range of ages (4-18 years), helping students develop their performance skills while also encouraging confidence, teamwork and self-expression.
The role will include supporting weekly classes, assisting with holiday workshops, helping prepare students for performances and being part of the backstage team for our annual productions.

You will work on a flexible rota basis, agreed in advance around your availability. During term time, most team members we can guarantee a minimum of 4 hours of work a week, although this will vary depending on your personal availability. For holidays and performance days there are a minimum of 1 whole day in each school holiday available ranging between 7 hours and up to 35 hours work for our long summer workshops. Performance weekends range from 1 to 3 days (at least 10 hours per day)

Desirable
Experience working with children or young people
Experience of drama teaching, youth theatre or performing arts
Experience or interest in backstage theatre work
First Aid training (or willingness to undertake training)
Interest in developing facilitation skills

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
Support the Drama Facilitator during classes by engaging in drama games and working with children in small groups as directed.
Occasionally run drama games, exercises, or small-group activities, with the potential to take the lead when required.
Assist in rehearsals and run some rehearsals independently when directed.
Help prepare students for annual performances, both creatively and practically.
Be available on performance days to assist with technical rehearsals and the production itself.
Create an engaging and supportive atmosphere that encourages participation, learning, and creativity.
Recognise and respond sensitively to the varying needs of children and young people within the group.
Work effectively as part of the Bristol Academy of Drama (BAD) team.
Ensure personal behaviour is aligns with BAD's Code of Conduct.
Prioritise children's wellbeing and follow safeguarding and child protection policies at all times.
