Job Description
JWP are looking for an experienced ASM Book Cover to join Avenue Q at The Shaftesbury Theatre. This role will include puppet responsibilities and the ideal candidate will have previous experience on a large scale West End musical, great communication skills, the ability to work as part of a team and a willingness to learn.
Salary: £941.06 Weekly (44 hour Buyout) in line with the SOLT/Equity Agreement
Location: Shaftesbury Theatre, London
Contract Start Date: w/c 26th October 2026
Contract End Date: Saturday 27 February 2027. The production is currently on sale until Sunday 3 January 2027. The Manager holds the exclusive option to extend for a further period up to and including Saturday 27 February 2027.
Job Requirements
Experience in the West End is preferable.
Previous experience working with puppets is desirable.
Good interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong organisational and time management skills.
Positive attitude emphasizing problem-solving skills
Comfortable assuming leadership responsibilities and working independently
Calm under pressure and adaptable to challenges
Proficient in collaborative teamwork within a dynamic environment
Ability to work diligently and methodically
A team player, able to work with a broad variety of people, backgrounds and personalities.

Job Responsibilities
This role will include the handling and day to day maintenance of a variety of puppets.
Learn the Book in order to cover the DSM as well as regularly calling the show once signed off.
Supporting the Stage Manager & Deputy Stage Manager to ensure the smooth running of performances.
Support & manage communication within the Stage Management Team to ensure props and puppets are maintained.
Manage and update Show Paperwork, including setting lists, cue sheets, crew plots and props trackers.
Learn and Cover the SL & SR ASM plots which will include assisting with set changes and keeping track of props and puppets.
Assisting the Stage Manager with administrative tasks.
Attend and participate in staff/team meetings as and when required.
