Job Summary

We are looking for a freelance Event Sales Consultant to generate new commercial venue-hire income across both iconic Midlands venues.

Job Description

The Role

Nottingham Contemporary and Broadway Cinema are two of Nottingham's leading cultural venues, each offering distinctive hire spaces alongside a strong programme of screenings, exhibitions and events. We are seeking a freelance Event Sales Consultant to generate new commercial venue-hire income across both.

Both venues have grown hire income in recent years, largely through word-of-mouth and repeat bookings. This new shared role will proactively sell our spaces for the first time, reaching clients who might otherwise overlook two of the city's most distinctive spaces.

As the primary driver of new business, you will identify opportunities across the corporate, public and creative sectors, respond to enquiries with tailored proposals, and convert leads into bookings. Internal teams then handle delivery, leaving you free to keep engaging prospects. You will build lasting relationships, shape hire packages, and recommend whichever venue best suits each client. This outward-facing role spans two organisations, calling for a collaborative, transparent and commercial approach.

The Candidate

You will have a demonstrable track record of generating new business and meeting sales targets in event sales or business development. A confident self-starter, you can manage a pipeline independently through proactive outreach. Strong commercial awareness and excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as is the ability to work across two organisations and manage varied stakeholders. Knowledge of the Nottingham and East Midlands market, established sector networks, and multi-venue sales experience are advantageous.

To Apply

Send your CV, a covering letter, and a two-page pitch on how you would target and secure new business for both venues.

Closing: 12pm, Mon 17 Aug 2026. Interviews: w/c Mon 24 Aug 2026. Apply to: [email protected]

We welcome applications from global majority communities, disabled people, and all socio-economic backgrounds

Job Requirements

As the primary driver of new business, you will proactively sell the hire spaces at both Nottingham Contemporary and Broadway Cinema, generating new commercial venue-hire income across the corporate, public and creative sectors. You will identify and pursue opportunities, respond to enquiries with tailored proposals, and convert leads into confirmed bookings, reaching clients who might otherwise overlook two of the city's most distinctive spaces. You will build lasting client relationships, help shape compelling hire packages, and recommend whichever venue best suits each client's needs. Once a booking is confirmed, internal teams take over delivery, leaving you free to keep engaging prospective clients and managing your own pipeline. This outward-facing role spans two organisations in a shared capacity, so it calls for a collaborative, transparent and commercial approach.

Job Responsibilities

You will have a demonstrable track record of generating new business and meeting sales targets in event sales or business development. A confident self-starter, you are comfortable with proactive outreach and able to manage a pipeline of prospective clients independently with minimal supervision. Strong commercial awareness and excellent communication and relationship-building skills are essential, as is the ability to work collaboratively across two organisations and manage a range of stakeholders. Knowledge of the Nottingham and East Midlands market, established networks in the corporate, public or creative sectors, and experience of selling across multiple venues would all be an advantage.
