Freelance / Self-Employed Convenor
Fee: £25,000 (inclusive of VAT) | Contract: October 2026 - March 2028
Time expectation: Approx 2-3 days pcm, worked flexibly
Location: Gloucestershire (monthly in-person meetings)
Travel and expenses: Budget available by agreement
The Gloucestershire Infrastructure Collaborative is seeking an experienced freelance Convenor to support an exciting partnership of nine Voluntary, Community and Social Enterprise (VCSE) organisations working together to strengthen the sector's role within Gloucestershire's health and wellbeing system.
This is a unique opportunity for an independent facilitator, connector and systems thinker who enjoys working in complexity across organisational boundaries, to build trusted relationships, strengthen collective leadership and help partnerships turn ambition into meaningful action.
The Convenor will build trust, psychological safety and shared purpose, helping the group develop collective leadership, navigate complexity, challenge and learning together.

Job Requirements
Support for and experience of navigating change in complexity
A grounding in and knowledge of place-based practice and the health, care and wider wellbeing system, including VCSE
Comfortable in complexity
Experience of convening in large and small settings
A willingness to learn, shape, adapt; moving where appropriate, changing pace as required, holding space when needed
Belief in strengths-based collaborative practice
Creativity, flair and resourcefulness
A reflective and independent thinker
A track record of supporting people, organisations and partnerships to reflect on and review their practice & grow trust and collaboration
Programme/project management skills and awareness of when not to use them
Financial and contract management skills and experience
Job Responsibilities
Functional:
Convene the Collaborative including regular monthly meetings.
Ensure clarity of purpose, prioritisation, action & accountability
Enable collaborative working & shared ownership
Liaise with the fiscal hosts to administer budgets
Bring systems expertise &/or source additional expertise as required.
Support the Collaborative in planning for longevity beyond the initial 2-year term.
Structural:
Be informed, supportive and neutral
Create an inclusive & participative environment
Build trust & strong relationships between members
Help the group navigate complexity, ambiguity, challenge & adaptation.
Create a culture of psychological safety & constructive dialogue.
Support development of collective identity and shared ownership of purpose
and confidence to act as systems leaders.
Liaise with the ICB
Advocate for the Collaborative.
