Job Summary

tiata fahodzi are seeking a Trustee Treasurer to join our Board. This is a voluntary role.

Job Description

As Trustee Treasurer, you'll provide financial oversight and constructive challenge on behalf of the Board, helping us stay financially resilient, well governed and ambitious.
Working closely with the Board, Senior Management Team and Finance Manager, you'll review financial information, ask the right questions, and support clear, confident decision-making around budgets, cashflow, management accounts, risk and long-term
sustainability.
We're looking for someone who cares about our work and is genuinely committed to supporting Black-led theatre in the UK. You do not need to be a qualified accountant, though we would welcome that experience. What matters most is that you can read
and understand management accounts and cashflow information, spot key issues, and help the Board think rigorously and responsibly about the company's finances.

What you will do:
Provide financial oversight on behalf of the Board, helping trustees understand the financial position of the organisation

Review management accounts, cashflow forecasts, budgets and financial reports, bringing a rigorous eye and asking clear, constructive questions

Attend and contribute to finance subcommittee meetings, and report back from these meetings to the Board at quarterly Board meetings

Work with the Senior Management Team and Finance Manager to support good financial planning, reporting and risk management

Support the Board to meet its charity and company responsibilities, including financial governance, reserves, audit or independent examination, and reporting to funders

Help ensure financial decisions remain aligned with tiata fahodzi's values, artistic ambitions and commitment to long-term sustainability

Act as an ambassador for tf where useful, supporting the organisation's wider networks, fundraising conversations and strategic development

Job Requirements

what are we looking for

Financial experience gained as an executive, company director or senior management within a charity, arts organisation, business or similar context

The ability to read and understand management accounts, cashflow documents and budgets, and to explain key financial issues clearly to non-finance colleagues

A rigorous, curious and supportive approach with the ability to ask the right questions, identify risk and help the Board make sound decisions

Qualified accountancy experience would be welcome, but is not essential

An open, collaborative style, comfortable contributing to discussion without dominating it, and able to work constructively with trustees and staff

A genuine commitment to equality, diversity, inclusion, justice and belonging, and an interest in supporting Black-led theatre in the UK

Some understanding of charity governance, arts funding or the theatre sector would be helpful, but we can support you to build this knowledge
