Job Summary
Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic, people-focused individual to join the Charles Dickens Museum team.
In this varied front-of-house role, you will welcome visitors, help tell Dickens's story, sell tickets and merchandise, serve refreshments, respond to enquiries, support visitors with access needs, and assist with events.
Shifts include weekends, weekdays and occasional Bank Holidays and evenings.
You'll be part of a supportive environment, helping to bring the best experience to all of our visitors.
Contract: Permanent position conditional upon successful completion of the probationary period.
Minimum 30 hours per week, with opportunities to work additional hours to support events and cover annual leave or other absences within the team. Flexibility to cover occasional evenings and bank holidays required.
Core hours: 9.30am - 5.30 PM Saturday and Sunday. The additional hours will be made up on a rota basis over Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, and covering evening events.
Rate: £14.00 per hour.
Start date: As soon as possible.

Excellent attention to detail.
Prior experience working within a customer service environment preferably in a retail/sales or hospitality sector.
Sense of responsibility and dependability.
Ability to be flexible and learn new skills as required.
Job Responsibilities
Deliver a warm, welcoming, and engaging experience for all visitors, providing information and support throughout their visit.
Sell tickets, retail products, memberships, and donations, helping to maximise income while providing excellent customer service.
Prepare and serve refreshments in the Tearoom, maintaining high standards of hospitality, cleanliness, and food hygiene.
Support Museum operations, including stock management, online orders, visitor safety, and the upkeep of public spaces.
Assist with events and other Museum activities, working flexibly as part of a small and collaborative team.
