Job Summary

We are seeking a Creative Practitioner to plan, develop and lead a digital storytelling project with two groups of Teen Boys (aged 10-16) at Hinckley Library, resulting in a co-created digital output for the library. This project will align with this year’s UK-wide National Year of Reading 2026.

Job Description

As part of our exciting fourth year of NPO activity, Hinckley Library's working group recently came together to brainstorm project ideas for the library. After lots of lively discussion, the group have decided to commission a Creative Practitioner to lead on a digital storytelling project, co-creating a digital output for the library.

Led by the National Year of Reading 2026 target audience of Teen Boys aged 10-16, we will be working with two groups of participants: 1) Teen boys from a local SEND school and 2) Year 6 boys from a local primary school, in receipt of Pupil Premium.

Our chosen Creative Practitioner will deliver eight engaging digital workshops with this cohort, along with a celebration event to launch the final output. This project is an opportunity to enhance the participant's wellbeing, develop their digital skills and to reconnect them to reading.

The fee available is £7,000. This should include all your time including research, planning, delivery, materials, editing and post-production (as necessary) and additional costs. A strong expression of interest will show a breakdown of costs and clearly demonstrate how the budget will be spent.
Workshop delivery dates to be negotiated between the successful practitioner, project lead, and two groups, following appointment. Please note that there are no set guaranteed working hours as workshop delivery, planning, content creation and the cost of the final output are all included in the £7,000 budget and this is managed by the successful practitioner. In line with Artists Union England rates of pay, we estimate the total time spent to be between 140-160 hours, depending on level of experience and cost of final output (excluding staff time).
