Job Description
This role will identify and create meaningful opportunities for alumni to engage with the life of the organisation by connecting them with performances, professional development opportunities, artistic activity and events across The Place's existing programmes, alongside targeted alumni initiatives where appropriate. The postholder will report to LCDS's Senior Management and work closely with the Communications team, School Office team and the Alumni Working Group.
Our alumni play a crucial role in supporting the organisation's long-term success and maintaining its world-leading reputation. The postholder will cultivate and strengthen relationships across our global alumni community through strategic engagement, communications, professional support and opportunities for connection throughout their careers.
This role will maximise engagement by integrating alumni into the rich programme of performances, festivals, talks, networking opportunities and artistic activity that already exists across The Place. Working across departments, the Alumni Engagement Manager will identify opportunities for alumni to reconnect with the organisation, with one another and with the wider dance sector, while developing additional initiatives where these add value.
The postholder will operate with a high degree of autonomy across the organisation and will work collaboratively with colleagues to embed alumni engagement throughout The Place's activities. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required in agreement with their line manager.
Salary & Contract Terms:
Salary: £36,471 per annum, equating to £21,883 p.a. for this part-time role.
Contract: Fixed-Term (12 Months), maternity cover contract. The successful candidate must be available to commence employment in mid-Oct 2026.

Interview Date: Anticipated in the week commencing 14 Sep 2026.

Job Requirements
Essential Criteria:
- Knowledge of dance and the arts.
- Strong project management skills, preferably in a higher education context.
- Excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing.
- Highly organised with excellent time management skills.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent, relevant professional experience.
- Experience of network management, preferably in a higher education context.
- Experience of successfully delivering professional events both in person and online.
- An appreciation and understanding of The Place, its aims, and its ethos as outlined in the organisation's mission and vision statements.
Desirable Criteria:
- Understanding of the nature of professional work in the dance of performing arts fields.
- Experience of working in a higher education alumni engagement, higher education administration, and/or higher education marketing role.
- Experience of contributing to alumni engagement strategy.
- Experience of alumni relations event delivery.
Job Responsibilities
- In collaboration with Senior Management, implement the alumni engagement strategy and associated programmes of activity, integrated into The Place's wider progammes (Artist Development, Continuing Professional Development, postgraduate study, Lifelong Learning Entitlement, Knowledge Exchange) to support and engage alumni in their ongoing professional, artistic and academic development.
- Develop and strengthen alumni networks nationally and internationally, inviting alumni to share their time and expertise back with The Place through appropriate channels and support the organisation's advocacy initiatives.
- Develop and prepare robust qualitative and quantitative evidence including case studies for the World-leading specialist provider funding application.
- Supported by the Communications Team, ensure regular and effective communication with alumni about events, opportunities, etc. in accordance with The Place Communications guidelines.
-Develop alumni-led reunion events.
