Job Description

Britten Pears Arts is seeking an experienced classical music professional to support the strategic planning, coordination, and delivery of its performance programme. Working closely with the Director, Music Programme, the role will help implement a new three-year planning framework across four annual seasons, including the Aldeburgh Festival, Summer at Snape, and Autumn/Christmas programmes.

The Programming Associate will act as a key link between producers, programme managers, artistic administration, artists, agents, and communications teams, ensuring effective planning, collaboration, and timely season launches. Responsibilities include supporting long-term programme development, progressing performance projects, coordinating information flow, streamlining administrative processes, liaising with artists and agents, and managing performance proposals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong track record in classical music programming, production, and event delivery, alongside experience in long-term planning, budget management, and stakeholder engagement. They will possess excellent knowledge of classical music, an interest in new and cross-genre work, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with detailed project execution.

Strong communication, organisational, networking, and relationship-management skills are essential, as is a commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion. Experience working within producing or commissioning organisations and confidence using Microsoft 365 and arts management systems are highly valued.

This part-time role offers the opportunity to contribute to one of the UK's leading music organisations, helping shape artistic programmes that support artists, engage audiences, and advance the future of classical music. Regular attendance at Snape Maltings is expected to support collaboration and cross-organisational working.

This is a part-time position (0.6FTE), fixed term for one year, ending August 2027

Job Requirements

Proven experience developing and delivering classical music programmes and artist-led projects within an arts organisation. Strong skills in planning, project coordination, budget management, and stakeholder engagement are essential. Excellent knowledge of classical music, with an interest in contemporary and cross-genre work, is required.

The role demands strong communication, organisation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work effectively with artists, agents, producers, and marketing teams. Candidates should be able to manage multiple priorities, support long-term planning, and improve processes.

A commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion is essential, alongside strong influencing and collaboration skills. Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and arts management systems is desirable. The successful candidate will be proactive, adaptable, resilient, and able to work regularly from Snape Maltings.

Job Responsibilities

Support the Director, Music Programme in developing and delivering long-term artistic plans across Britten Pears Arts' annual performance seasons.

Coordinate planning between producers, programme managers, artistic administration, and marketing teams to ensure effective communication, timely season launches, and alignment with organisational strategy.

Advance performance projects by liaising with artists, agents, and partners, helping to develop ideas from conception to delivery. Improve planning and administrative processes to increase efficiency and support future programming frameworks.

Monitor information flow across departments, maintain project oversight, and triage incoming performance proposals.

Act as a central point of coordination to ensure programmes are delivered effectively and collaboratively across the organisation.
