Job Description

If you have experience with venues and public-facing management, we want to hear from you. We are on the lookout for an experienced Bar and Duty Manager to look after the bar and casual staff, as well as supporting in managing the venue for programmed events.

As the Bar & Duty Manager, you will be the driving force behind the smooth, safe, and welcoming daily operations of The Generator. Blending commercial bar management with comprehensive Duty Management, you will be the senior person on shift, responsible for the venue's overall vibe, safety, and customer experience.

You will lead by example, motivating your FOH and bar teams to deliver exceptional service while managing the transition from daytime community activities to bustling evening events. If you are adaptable, community-minded, and thrive in a dynamic, creative environment, this role is for you.

Job Requirements

Previous experience in a similar supervisory or management role within a bar, arts, leisure, or community venue.
Hold a valid Personal Licence.
Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team of casual staff, including bartenders and FOH assistants.
Experience managing building operations (e.g., key holding, alarm systems, room setups).
Thorough understanding of Health & Safety legislation, licensing laws, and risk assessments.
Excellent cash-handling experience and knowledge of POS/inventory systems.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to excellent customer service.
Ability to remain calm, multitask, and problem-solve in a fast-paced, pressurised environment.
Flexible approach to working hours, with the ability to work evenings, weekends, and late nights.

Job Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Oversight: Manage daily operations of the bar, including scheduling, inventory management, cellar maintenance, and end-of-shift reporting.

Team Leadership: Recruit, train, and motivate casual bartenders, bar staff, and FOH staff to create an effective, knowledgeable, and service-led team.

Stock & Sales: Track inventory closely, order stock within budget, and report requirements to the Operations Manager/CEO. Promote special offers to drive sales and support the venue's income generation targets.
Systems Management: Manage and implement all POS till systems, ensuring they operate efficiently and accurately.

Atmosphere: Play an active role in curating the "vibe" of the venue, overseeing lighting, background music, and the transition from day to night.
