Job Summary

We are casting for Performers to play a storyteller who will act as LINA, a five year old girl who is independent and brave, but has stopped believing in magic in a new storytelling show and installation at Scarborough Library.

Job Description

SPRiTES is a playful and beautiful storytelling show and installation for 4-8 year olds and their families. Including puppets and miniature worlds, with a beautiful set, lighting and sound, audiences will hear a story focused on the discovery of SPRiTES in a hidden glade in Scarborough.

For up to 30 audience members at a time, SPRiTES is an up close and intimate show. Audiences will sit amongst the beautiful set and feel part of the world and action.

We are seeking performers to join a performance team of three. Performers will be able to convincingly play LINA as well as tell her story. The role slips between storytelling and character performance.

SPRiTES will be performed in the concert room in Scarborough Library. It is an accessible, warm, well-loved venue. There will be between 4- 6 shows per day, with the show lasting just under 30 mins. A team of three alternating performers will mean you will only perform a portion of the total shows each day.

Performers will be given a lunch break and will be paid £645 per week for three weeks (total fee £1,935), plus holiday pay. Per diems/ Travel/Accommodation expenses for an out of area performer are available.

Strong improvisation skills are essential, the ability to sing and previous experience working with children as a performer would be advantageous.
