Job Description
The role includes installation, previews, public opening days and post-fair follow-up. It is a paid, fixed-term opportunity working 8 hours per day and spanning approximately four weeks. Salary dependent on experience.
Candidates should have a minimum of two years' experience in gallery sales, art fairs or the commercial art world, and be confident engaging with collectors, curators and museum professionals. The ideal candidate will be organised, self-motivated and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, while representing the gallery and its artists to an international audience.
For 1-54 African Art Fair, candidates should have a strong knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, modern and contemporary art from Africa and the African diaspora.
For Frieze Masters, we are particularly interested in candidates with knowledge of, or a strong interest in, 20th-century self-taught art and overlooked or historically under-recognised artists.
Job Requirements

Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills are essential, together with a proactive, self-motivated approach and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced fair environment. Candidates should demonstrate strong commercial awareness, discretion and enthusiasm for the gallery's artists. For 1-54, a good knowledge of and interest in modern and contemporary art from Africa and the African diaspora is essential. For Frieze Masters, knowledge of or a strong interest in 20th-century self-taught art, modernism and historically under-recognised artists is highly desirable.
Job Responsibilities
The role will support the gallery throughout the preparation and delivery of Frieze Masters or 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair, with a particular focus on sales and client engagement. Responsibilities include having a thorough knowledge of the exhibiting artist and available works; welcoming and engaging collectors, curators, advisers and museum professionals; identifying prospective clients and institutional contacts; discussing works and prices; recording and following up sales enquiries; and assisting with targeted pre-fair and post-fair outreach. Candidates should be proactive, commercially aware and confident representing the gallery and its artists to an international audience.
