Heritage Doncaster is seeking an experienced community engagement freelancer work with armed forces families to co-produce artwork(s) as part of the Forces Families project.
The community engagement freelancer will:
Support Heritage Doncaster staff to consult with the Armed Forces community about how these sessions should be run
Build relationships with community groups, partners and stakeholders across the Armed Forces community
Represent Heritage Doncaster at community forums and networks
Plan, coordinate and deliver creative art sessions, working with a freelance artist and Heritage Doncaster staff, likely to include weekend working
Support the collection and collation of evaluation material, working with a freelance evaluator and Heritage Doncaster staff
Work collaboratively with a wider project team of staff and freelancers
Create a welcoming environment for project participants
Support with identifying oral history participants and undertaking interviews

This project is funded by the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and the King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (KOYLI) Museum Trustees with a total grant of just under £100,000. The project will explore the rich experience of armed forces families including the spouses, parents and children of military families. Through collecting a series of new oral histories, running a co
created art project, and an extensive programme of research, we will improve and diversify our knowledge of the military history of Doncaster and the KOYLI. The voices of current and
ex-military families will be amplified and secured for the future, ensuring the regimental collection and Heritage Doncaster military collections become more holistic and representative of diverse military families, and thus relevant for wider audiences.
