Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Development Manager to join the fundraising and development team to restore and preserve the Gardens for the benefit of everyone now and for future generations.

Job Description

This vital and substantive role will build on the £18.5m fundraising success to date and work with the wider Fundraising and Development team to increase charitable income.

Growing the charitable funds will enable BBG to deliver its planned major development and charitable purposes.

The Development Manager post has been created with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund to increase fundraising skills and capacity and will be responsible for managing the day-to-day fundraising functions. The priority is the capital project, but in addition the postholder will also build
a portfolio of fundraising streams for capital, projects, and operational costs.

Job Requirements

Knowledge and experience of major fundraising
Knowledge of different forms of fundraising and their ROI/strengths & limitations, including individual giving and philanthropy; membership schemes and major gifts
3-5 years' experience working in a fundraising
capacity, including the raising of significant funds
for a charity, including major donors/individuals.
Experience of using Spektrix CRM system or similar
Evidence of responsibility for raising 6 x figure
funds from a variety of sources.
Experience of taking responsibility for fundraising
data management systems
Experience of managing donors and funders and
high standards of stewardship

Degree-educated or with demonstrable experience of in-depth understanding of fundraising in an independent charitable
organisation.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities
Achieve income and performance targets in accordance with BBG's agreed Fundraising Strategy and business needs, as directed by the Head of Fundraising and Development.
Raise funding from trusts, grants, and sponsors and support campaigns for fundraising from individuals, especially major donors, to meet the targets of the capital project, as agreed.
Responsible for organising relevant cultivation events/activities, including private visits to
the Gardens, special thanks and stewardship delivery outcomes, talks, events, tours and hospitality.
Responsible for managing BBG's development/fundraising function data, ensuring the highest quality and accuracy of data and information on BBG's Spektrix CRM system
Deliver donor benefits and acknowledgements
Responsible for research and cultivating funding prospects and submitting high-quality well-researched applications
