Job Summary
Job Description
The Gallery Manager supports the Director and Deputy Director to ensure the smooth and efficient operational and technical management of all programmes, visitor experience, audience development, hires and buildings maintenance.
Contract Type: Full-time, 6 months fixed term, starting February 2027
Working Hours: 40 hours, 9am-5pm, some evening and weekend work with TOIL
Working Location: Southwark Park Galleries, SE16 2UA, with some flexible working
Salary: £34,500 per annum (£17,250 per 6 month duration)
Job Requirements
- Strong experience of exhibition administration, including logistics,
production, installations and de-installations, managing loans, transport and insurance.
- Knowledge of contemporary art and interdisciplinary programming.
- Experience and familiarity of building operations, compliance and Health and Safety.
- Experience of organising events
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills with a wide variety of people and audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously: on time and on budget
- A highly organised and reliable team player who enjoys working as part of a small and committed team.
- A calm and effective problem solver
- Line management experience
- Demonstrate a commitment to the mission and objectives of Southwark Park Galleries.
- Strong commitment to the gallery's continuing effort to lead on equality, diversity, inclusion and environmental sustainability.
Job Responsibilities
Exhibitions Management: Managing the installation, staffing and production of exhibitions.
Operations & Buildings Compliance: Leading on Health and Safety as well as day to day operational maintenance management.
Marketing & Audience Development: Press management, overseeing the website, social media and archive. Reporting and analysing audience data.
Fundraising: Leading on venue hire, supporting the team on aspects of fundraising.
Retail Management: Merchandise strand development, overseeing sales targets and stock.
Visitor Experience: Line management of Gallery Assistants, event management in support of Deputy Director and Public Engagement Manager.
