Britten Pears Arts is a leading arts and heritage charity based at Snape Maltings, Suffolk. Reporting to the Head of Production, the Lighting Technician supports the delivery of concerts, performances and events across BPA venues, working closely with artists, visiting companies, technicians and internal teams.

Key responsibilities include rigging, focusing, programming and operating lighting systems; supporting visiting technicians; contributing to lighting design for selected events; and maintaining lighting equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation. The role also assists with equipment testing, repairs and technical improvements.

The postholder will support the setup and operation of audio-visual systems for performances, workshops, conferences and other events, while providing stage and backstage technical support as required. They will liaise with artists and production teams to deliver technical requirements to a high standard.

Additional duties include attending production planning meetings, coordinating technical requirements, supervising freelance and casual staff, responding to technical enquiries, supporting presentations and assisting with venue shutdown and security procedures.

Candidates should have experience in a live events, theatre or performance venue environment, with practical knowledge of lighting rigging, desk operation, equipment maintenance and AV systems. Experience working with artists and musicians is essential, while lighting design experience and knowledge of ETC lighting consoles would be advantageous.
