Job Summary

You will act as a school-singing lead, implementing our ‘One Voice’ strategy which is designed to support and sustain vibrant, engaging and enjoyable group singing. Positions available in Hammersmith and Enfield.

Job Description

Teaching Artists are established music educators who bring a high level of artistry and well-developed educational practice and pedagogy. They have a deep understanding of the Ark Schools Music Programme and our approach to inclusive music making. Teaching Artists share Ark's belief that all pupils can be musicians regardless of their background and consistently deliver work of the highest quality, leading to excellent musical results.

Teaching Artists are able to: work independently to plan and lead classes, rehearsals and workshops; share practice with school teachers; and offer training/support to less-experienced artists and Music Mentors. Teaching Artists may be invited to take a leading role in the design and content of event days and programmes of study for our pupils (such as Spark/Fusion, One Voice etc.)

Job Requirements

This role includes working alongside the Ark Music team, the school (or schools) you will be based in, and working with artists across other schools with regards to areas outlined in 'job responsibilities'

You will deliver school choir across 30 weeks, 60mins p/week - arranging this around your availability in collaboration with the school:
1 launch assembly
26 rehearsals
3 termly community sharing events

You will facilitate across two network events
Spring term - Tuesday 9 March
Summer term - Wednesday 14 July

Job Responsibilities

Core responsibilities:
Delivery of school choir across 30 weeks, 60mins p/week (1 launch assembly, 26 rehearsals, 3 termly community sharing events)
Programming repertoire that is socially conscious, relevant, and sufficiently challenging - integrating shared repertoire (from Ark Music)
Facilitation at two network events (Spring and Summer) - dates TBC
Participation in training and planning

Teaching responsibilities
Provide individualised support to students, catering to their unique learning styles and needs.
Utilise differentiated strategies to ensure that all students, regardless of their skill level, can progress and achieve their full potential.
Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their musicianship.
Work collaboratively with the Enrichment lead and Primary Music lead to ensure the success of all students.
Engage in ongoing professional development to stay updated on best practices in music education and
