Job Description

The Company Stage Manager line manages the Technical Stage Manager, Deputy Company Manager and Head of Wardrobe, supporting their leadership and management of their teams. They foster a positive, inclusive and supportive workplace, oversee Performer scheduling and wellbeing, resolve operational challenges, and ensure efficient delivery without compromising artistic quality. They also oversee departmental budgets and payroll and act as the first point of contact for HoDs and Performers.

Job Requirements

Lead daily management of Performers and support the smooth running of the experience, ensuring teams are onsite, fit and supported. Manage staff welfare, performance, discipline and HR matters, including mediation and escalation. Oversee Performer rotas, swings, cast swaps, rehearsals, inductions and emergency cover. Manage weekly payroll, timesheets, invoices and the monthly props budget, keeping overtime to a minimum. Maintain departmental paperwork, operational guides and risk assessments, completing daily safety checks with the Technical Stage Manager. Support recruitment and test audience games, and provide cover for the Technical Stage Manager when required. Maintain communication with General Management on operational, rehearsal and performance matters. Liaise with Stage Management and wider teams to resolve issues and support events/marketing. Provide post-incident support and complete reports. Undertake other reasonable duties as required.

Job Responsibilities

Experience and Person Specification:

Essential:
Must have previous experience of leading a team at a similar management level.
Previous experience managing HoDs and/or large teams.
Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to generate complex schedules and work with large budgets.
Ability to de-escalate tense situations and independently manage conflict resolution.
Ability to build trust and rapport with a team while simultaneously serving the needs of the business.
A flair for designing and working with spreadsheets and other IT software to proactively manage and implement systems for various employee-tracking needs.
A flexible, confident and responsive approach to working while adapting to rapidly changing needs and requirements.
A keen interest in and passion for live/immersive productions.

Desirable:
Experience in a live/immersive production setting.
Experience in a Stage Management, Wardrobe or Technical role.
