PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Manage the site and buildings maintenance, including but not limited to: maintaining repairs to the gardens and nurseries; ensuring appropriate cleanliness to enable an excellent visitor experience, waste management; water supplies; drains; lighting; defects and repairs; building work and decorating

Work closely with the onsite horticultural team to keep the gardens at a high standard

Line manage the Maintenance Assistant, Cleaning Team and any relevant volunteers

Manage the external cleaning contract and line manage the Gardens 2 x cleaners

Carry out daily monitoring, prioritising and delegating of jobs to the maintenance team, overseeing the accuracy and quality of the work being undertaken

Support and train new team members

Accountable for systems essential to the day-to-day running of operations

Maintain equipment and ensure regular testing is carried out where required eg annual PAT testing

Carry out work completely, effectively and in a safe manner

Be part of the team of Managers who respond to emergency callouts

Ensure all machinery runs smoothly to ensure an efficient operation

Arrange and monitor external contractors for major repairs or specialist maintenance

Assess and ensure suitable levels of materials are kept in stock for annual and specific work requests
