Job Summary
Job Description
Reporting to the Head of Scenic Construction, key areas of responsibility include (please see the Role Profile for the comprehensive list):
Reviewing technical drawings and completing assigned tasks.
Measuring, cutting and assembling scenic components using industrial machinery.
Fabricating and finishing steelwork to a high standard.
Carrying out regular tool safety checks and maintaining workshop standards.
Loading scenic components into venues and securing them safely on stage.
Assisting with on-site modifications, repairs and technical adjustments during fit-up and production periods.
Job Requirements
To be suitable for this role, it is essential that you have:
High-level MIG, TIG and ARC welding skills.
Experience using fabrication equipment such as cold saws, grinders, band saws and plasma cutters.
Experience creating curved architectural scenery using tube benders and rollers.
Good material knowledge of mild steel, aluminium, stainless steel and brass.
The ability to read and interpret complex CAD drawings, technical blueprints and scale models.
A strong understanding of mechanical construction principles and fabrication techniques.
An awareness of, or experience working with automated/moving scenic elements.
A good understanding of health and safety, including safe and sustainable working practices.
