Job Description

As Head of Culture, Creative Industries & Visitor Economy, you will provide strategic leadership to shape and deliver Walsall's ambitions for culture, creativity and place.

You will lead the development of a vibrant cultural and creative economy, working with partners, communities and stakeholders to maximise opportunities for investment, participation and growth. The role will support the delivery of major regeneration priorities, strengthen Walsall's visitor offer and help ensure that culture and creativity contribute to economic growth, community wellbeing and civic pride.

Job Requirements

-Educated to degree level/Level 5 qualification in a relevant subject, membership of an appropriate professional body and/or significant relevant equivalent experience.
-Demonstrates continual professional development (CPD) and a commitment to ongoing CPD moving forward.
-An awareness of and commitment to, equality, diversity and inclusion.
-Awareness of, and commitment to, data protection and information governance ensuring confidentiality

Job Responsibilities

Includes, but is not limited to, the following (please refer to the job requisition on the Council's Careers Site for full details):

- Provide leadership and direction for the development and implementation of culture, heritage, creative industries and visitor economy strategies, ensuring alignment with the council's economic growth strategy and council plan.

- Provide strategic input to the development of the Leisure and Library strategies, developed in consultation with the relevant Heads of Service.

- Lead on the operational service delivery and infrastructure development of the service, including the New Art Gallery, Walsall Arena & Arts Centre, Leather Museum, the music service and the Town Halls.

-Lead the design and delivery of cultural, creative industries and visitor economy programs, including exhibitions, events, and celebrations, while developing and negotiating partnerships to maximise council-owned assets like parks and the Guildhall, Bloxwich Launch Pad.
