Job Summary

Calling all emerging artists! Nurturing Talent is Create’s training programme for emerging artists. It offers an opportunity to up to six artists who are passionate about using the creative arts to empower disadvantaged and vulnerable people.

Job Description

Nurturing Talent will run between March 2027 and March 2028 with up to five artists based in London and one based in Manchester, who are interested in gaining hands-on workshop experience to apply their professional practice in a community setting. We are open to applications from animators, dancers, drama artists, filmmakers, musicians, photographers, visual artists and writers who will spend 25 days on the programme over 12 months.

Create is committed to delivering high-quality professional development that is accessible to everyone. The Nurturing Talent programme is offered free of charge with a bursary of £1,800 towards expenses.

Applications will take place in three stages. We will first determine your eligibility to apply through the completion of a short form. Eligible candidates will then be invited to proceed to the application stage. The final stage will be an interview with the Chief Executive and a Senior Project Manager.

Job Requirements

You will be a professional practicing artist, including animators, dancers, drama artists, filmmakers, musicians, photographers, visual artists or writers.
You must have some experience of community facilitation and be able to demonstrate how and why you wish to develop your workshop planning and delivery skills in challenging settings.
You are passionate about the value of creativity in empowering and upskilling vulnerable groups.
You have a reflective practice and must be open to receiving feedback from peers, Create staff and artists.
You must be prepared to give feedback to your peers and work in groups and pairs throughout the year.
Your approach must align with Create's core values: creativity, excellence, flexibility, integrity, passion, valuing the individual.
You have the ability to form warm, trusting relationships with a wide range of different people.
You show excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to manage a busy diary.

Job Responsibilities

You must have completed all study before attending the programme.
You must be available to attend all programme activities on the dates specified in the programme structure table in the brochure. NB: Community project dates are flexible.
You must be able to support 18 full day/36 half day workshops during the year. Dates will be offered as projects are confirmed. Create projects are delivered throughout the week (projects are rarely on weekends or evenings). Some projects are weekly and others run on consecutive days. Applicants with flexible, freelance working schedules are best suited to this programme.
You must be based in London or Greater Manchester and be prepared to travel to projects.

How to Apply

Full details can be viewed via the link above. Please also download the relevant brochure and read through these carefully and ensure you are available for all key dates.

Application is a three-stage process:

1. Fill in the Eligibility Form and Diversity and Equality Monitoring Form. The deadline for submission of these forms is 10am on 09/10/26.
2. Application and Video: If you are invited to apply, we will contact you with an Application Form to complete. We will also ask you to submit a two-minute Video. The deadline for the submission of the form and the video is 10am on 02/11/26.
3. Interview: If you are invited to Interview, we will email you by 20/11/26. Interviews will take place at Create’s office in the City of London on 24/11/26 and 25/11/26. You will be asked to prepare a workshop plan and to bring/show/perform an example of your artform.
Please note that to take part in the Nurturing Talent programme you must be able to attend in person training days in London.
