Job Description
This is a voluntary three-year position, with reasonable travel expenses provided.
Board Members attend four Board meetings and two annual Away Days each year, as well as engaging with Open Theatre's work and occasionally representing the organisation at events. Meetings usually take place in Birmingham City Centre, with digital access available for those with access needs.
We're particularly looking for someone based in, or with easy access to, the West Midlands.
Job Requirements

- Arts funding and financial management
- Learning disabilities
- Policy and advocacy
- Health and wellbeing
- Charity governance
You don't need to have experience in all of these areas - we're interested in what you could bring to Open Theatre and our mission.
Job Responsibilities
This is an unpaid, voluntary role, with reasonable travel expenses provided. Board Members will meet informally with the Director and Senior Leadership Team to provide support and guidance, and are expected to attend Open Theatre's performances, programmes and fundraising events.
The role may include occasional ambassadorial duties, representing Open Theatre at events and identifying opportunities for the company.
There are four Board meetings per year, usually in Birmingham City Centre, with digital provision for access needs, plus two annual Board Away Days. The term is three years, with the option to extend for a further three years by agreement of the Board.
