Job Summary
Job Description
Purpose of the job:
Gosport Routes connects communities with creative and cultural experiences, through accessible programming, youth-led decision making and inclusive practice. This role will work with the Programme Director to transition from the listening/testing phase ("short-haul journeys") into larger-scale, long-term programming ("long-haul journeys"), showcasing Gosport's unique cultural heritage locally, across neighbouring communities and beyond. The Community Producer will work with the Programme Director to design and deliver accessible, community-embedded cultural activity, working hand in hand with residents and young people.
What is the role? What does a day in the life of a Community Producer look like?:
A typical day for the Community Producer balances grassroots community engagement with collaborative programme planning across Gosport. This could involve facilitating inclusive workshops or listening sessions at a local departure lounge, meeting with young people and the Youth Voice Consortium to shape youth led creative activities, and coordinating with the Programme Director and local partners to remove barriers and develop accessible cultural events. They may also work closely with artists to develop place-specific commissions or offer their expertise and guidance to community groups producing cultural activity for the first time.
